Tap Talks: Birds of Nicaragua
December 8, 2019 @ 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm

Retired Wisconsin DNR naturalist Bill Volkert has taken numerous tour groups to Nicaragua to explore the habitat and wildlife that many of our migratory birds enjoy during the winter. Nicaragua is also home to numerous rare endemic bird species, with a total population of over 750 birds. The diversity reflects the small country’s wide range of habitats, from cloud forests to coastal wetlands to oak-pine forests. Bill’s presentation will include photos of Nicaragua’s colorful birds and a discussion of conservation efforts underway to protect and restore their habitat.
